The famous Jelly Roll, who headlined the Rock the South festival this year, has exciting news for his Alabama fans! He will be returning to the state for a fall concert in Birmingham.
On November 21st, the Legacy Arena at the BJCC will host a performance by the country star as part of his “The Beautifully Broken Tour.” The concert will feature opening acts from Ernest, Shaboozey, and Allie Colleen.
According to Live Nation, tickets for the Birmingham show will be available for purchase via Ticketmaster starting at 10 a.m. CT on Friday, Aug. 2. The ticket prices range from $39.50 to $159.50, with additional service charges. Ticketmaster is also offering pre-sales for the event starting at 10 a.m. CT on Tuesday, which will conclude at 10 p.m. CT on Thursday.
Jelly Roll has already announced over 50 dates for his upcoming tour. The tour will begin on August 27th at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, and will conclude on November 23rd at the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. Born and raised in Nashville, the 39-year-old artist has graced Alabama with his performances multiple times over the years. His most recent performance was as the headlining act on July 18 at the Rock the South festival in Cullman. Jelly Roll also shared the stage with Lana Del Rey at this year’s Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, where they belted out the classic tune “Sweet Home Alabama.”
From 2012 to present, Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, has released nine solo albums and collaborated on several others. While his unique sound originally combined country, rap, and Southern rock, he has shifted towards a more country-focused style in recent years.
In 2020, Jelly Roll gained recognition with his album “A Beautiful Disaster.” However, it wasn’t until his release of “Ballads of the Broken” in 2021, under BBR Music Group, that he truly became a sensation. The album boasted a No. 1 country single, “Son of a Sinner,” further cementing his success.
In the world of country music, Jelly Roll’s 2023 release, “Whitsitt Chapel,” is considered to be his significant breakthrough. This album helped him win the CMA Award for New Artist of the Year.
“Whitsitt Chapel” produced several hit singles, including “Need a Favor,” “Halfway to Hell,” and “Save Me” (featuring Lainey Wilson) that made it to the Billboard charts. Jelly Roll’s collaboration with Wilson also won an ACM Award for Music Event of the Year this year. In addition, Jelly Roll won three major CMT Music Awards for “Whitsitt Chapel,” including Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year, and CMT Performance of the Year, all for his song “Need a Favor.”
Jelly Roll extended his reach by becoming a mentor for participants on the 22nd season of ABC’s “American Idol.” He provided guidance to a number of singers for their performances at Hawaii’s Aulani resort. Amongst them were Triston Harper, Mia Matthews, and KBlocks from Alabama who received valuable advice and support from Jelly Roll.
In July, Jelly Roll collaborated with Machine Gun Kelly to release a new single titled “Lonely Road,” which premiered on YouTube. The song’s music video, directed by Sam Cahill, pays homage to John Denver’s 1971 hit “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” In the video, Jelly Roll and Machine Gun Kelly, who have dubbed themselves KellyRoll, are joined by Megan Fox, who is Machine Gun Kelly’s girlfriend, and Jelly Roll’s wife, Bunnie Xo.
