Long Sentence for Texas Doctor Who Killed Patients Using IV Bags

In Texas, a doctor has received a sentence for his actions concerning the treatment of his patients. Here’s what we know.

In August 2022, a sinus surgery patient, aged 18 and remaining unidentified, encountered complications during the procedure. Upon further examination of the IV bag, the presence of bupivacaine, epinephrine, and lidocaine drugs was discovered. This discovery prompted an investigation into the potential source of the health complications.

Video footage has surfaced showing Ortiz placing the bags in the medical facility, along with other incriminating evidence. Following a trial, he has now been found guilty and his sentence has been disclosed.

According to FOX 4, Ortiz has been sentenced to 2,280 months, which amounts to a total of 190 years. Judge David Godbey, who presided over the case, straightforwardly declared, “He committed the crime.”

John Kaspar, whose wife was lost due to Ortiz’s actions, expressed to FOX 4 that despite Ortiz’s absence from the courtroom during the sentencing, the judge delivered a flawless statement that resonated with him.

“I heard everything I wanted to hear… It was the conclusion that everyone was aware of. He knew that I knew. And now, it has been officially documented.”

Roxanne Bogdan, who lived next to Ortiz for ten years, expressed deep regret for not being able to intervene and prevent Ortiz’s actions before the incident occurred.

“He has managed to evade legal consequences numerous times for his heinous actions…In response to my testimony against him in court, he sought revenge and was eventually convicted of shooting my beloved dog. It saddens me deeply that we were unable to apprehend him sooner.”
