Kamala Harris, Vice President, to visit Atlanta for the second time within a week

Kamala Harris, the Vice President of the United States, had planned to visit Atlanta on Friday. However, her office has recently announced that she will reschedule her visit for next week.

On Tuesday, the vice president is set to return to Atlanta for the second time in less than a week.

At the Rocket Foundation Summit, there will be a discussion on preventing gun violence featuring Quavo, a rapper from metro Atlanta, and the talented blogger herself.

In November 2022, tragedy struck the Migos family when Takeoff, who is also Quavo’s nephew, was fatally shot in Houston. To honor his memory, a summit and moderated panel will be held on Takeoff’s birthday, featuring Vice President Harris.

The Vice President has a busy schedule ahead as she gears up for her fifth visit to Georgia this year. Since being sworn in, this will be her 14th visit to the state.

As part of her “Economic Opportunity Tour”, the White House has confirmed her visit on Friday. Her itinerary includes being part of a panel at the annual conference of 100 Black Men of America, Inc.

In January, Harris had her first visit to Atlanta, followed by a trip to Savannah in February. Later in April, she made her way back to Atlanta to showcase the $158 million grant that the city received for “The Stitch.”

The goal of the project is to reunite neighborhoods that were divided by the construction of the downtown connector.

Upon her latest visit, the Republican party chair of Georgia, Josh McKoon, released a statement asserting that their policies have caused irreversible damage. He further expressed the desire for a second Trump administration and the return of an economy that benefits all Georgians.

As the upcoming election approaches, Georgia is anticipated to once again become a contested state. In the coming months, we can expect visits from both President Joe Biden’s and former President Donald Trump’s campaigns to increase.

On June 27, a presidential debate is scheduled to take place between Biden and Trump at CNN Studios located in midtown Atlanta.
