A conviction of animal cruelty charges has resulted in a sentence for a former Chiefs player, as reported by KCTV. The incident took place in Birmingham, Alabama.
During the 2023 season, Isaiah Buggs was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad. However, due to multiple legal troubles in the offseason, he was released from the team in June.
According to reports, Buggs faced two arrests, one for allegedly abandoning two dogs in a Tuscaloosa residence for multiple days without food or water. The second arrest involved a domestic violence case, where Buggs was accused of dragging a woman down the stairs.
After being found guilty of animal cruelty charges in Tuscaloosa, Alabama city court, he decided to appeal the conviction.
According to court documents obtained by WBRC, Buggs has been sentenced to 365 days of hard labor, with 60 days to be served immediately and the remaining 300 days to be suspended for two years, subject to his behavior.
According to an email sent by Buggs’ attorney Greg Gambril to WBRC on Wednesday, the legal situation surrounding Buggs is still ongoing and is currently quite perplexing, requiring further explanation.
