Indiana Authorities Recover Child After Home Invasion in DuPage County

Two men in Indiana were arrested after a home invasion on Aurora’s east side that led to the abduction of an 8-year-old child. Thankfully, the child was found safe.

Late Monday evening, the Aurora Police Department received a report of a home invasion on the 2000 block of Cheshire Drive. Upon arrival, firefighters and police officers discovered that two men had forcefully entered the home, causing injuries to the homeowners and abducting a child. The individuals responsible for the incident were identified as the child’s father, uncle, and grandmother, according to authorities.

Police reports suggest that Lisa C. Bearden, a 58-year-old grandmother, was discovered in North Aurora with firearms in her vehicle. She has been charged with Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Meanwhile, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana located the males and the child. Joshua T. Bearden, 30, and Christopher A. Bearden, 35, are facing home invasion charges and are currently awaiting extradition to Illinois.

Chief Keith Cross stressed the significance of home safety, particularly for children, and commended the joint efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies in ensuring the safe return of the child. “Forcing your way into someone else’s home and causing harm is never justified, regardless of your relationship with the child,” Cross emphasized.
