Identification of both fatalities in fiery crash following police chase in DC

D.C. police have recently released the identity of the second individual who lost their life in a car crash that occurred at the start of July, following a police pursuit. The news was reported by DC News Now.

On July 2, at approximately 12:35 p.m., a fiery crash occurred in the District, resulting in the deaths of two individuals: 17-year-old Dashawn Harris from Southeast, D.C., and 18-year-old Zagory Leo Hill from District Heights, Md., according to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). Both individuals passed away at the scene.

According to MPD, a BMW linked to a series of robberies was being pursued by U.S. Park Police and Anne Arundel County Police. The vehicle was observed driving at a high speed in the 4100 block of Southern Ave. before it lost control and drove onto the sidewalk.

After being ejected from the car, 19-year-old Demetri Koger attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by police. He was subsequently charged with fugitive from justice and taken to a hospital for medical attention to his injuries.

The officers who arrived at the scene, along with DC Fire and EMS, had to extricate Harris and Hill from the vehicle. Unfortunately, both individuals lost their lives at the site of the accident.

On July 3, the police were able to identify Harris. However, it was not until July 15 that Hill was identified by the D.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and MPD investigators.

If you have any information related to the case, please do not hesitate to contact MPD at (202) 727-9099 or send a text to 50411. Your cooperation can help bring justice to those affected by the incident.
