Houston Woman Charged with Felony for Allegedly Locking 7-Year-Old in Dog Cage

A 55-year-old woman has been charged with felony unlawful restraint following shocking allegations of abuse and neglect involving a 7-year-old girl in her care.

Court documents reveal that on December 13, Rose Marie Anderson allegedly zip-tied the child’s arms, duct-taped her mouth, and confined her in a dog cage positioned near a Christmas tree for hours. Reports indicate Anderson kicked the cage while the girl was inside, further intensifying the abuse.

During this period of confinement, the child had no access to food or water and was forced to urinate on herself after being restrained for an extended period without access to a restroom. Authorities say the punishment was reportedly in response to the girl misbehaving at school.

Although the relationship between Anderson and the child has not been officially confirmed, the documents identify Anderson as the child’s sole caretaker.

The bond for Anderson has been set at $40,000. The case is a chilling reminder of the importance of vigilance in identifying and reporting child abuse to protect vulnerable children from harm.
