Houston deputies apprehend suspect after a high-speed pursuit spanning 25 miles into Texas City

HOUSTON, Texas — On Saturday, September 28, 2024, Harris County Constable Precinct Two deputies apprehended a suspect following a high-speed chase.

The incident took place in the 10800 block of Gulf Freeway, where deputies were enforcing traffic and noticed a vehicle traveling at an excessive speed. Upon activating emergency lights and sirens to initiate a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply and led the deputies on a pursuit.

Throughout the chase, the vehicle exceeded speeds of 100 miles per hour, evading the authorities for over 25 miles until finally being stopped in Texas City.

The driver, identified as Ruben Arturo Munoz Torres, a white male, was subsequently arrested for felony evading. Torres was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Harris County Joint Processing Center.
