The Houston-area has been grappling with a concerning trend of discovering bodies in and around the city’s bayous since June. These incidents, ranging from suspected homicides to unexplained deaths, have prompted ongoing investigations.
Since this summer, a total of 10 bodies have been discovered in the area.

Bill named after 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray
It has been a month since the tragic assault and murder of Jocelyn Nungaray, a 12-year-old girl. This devastating incident has not only shaken her family but also sparked a larger conversation around immigration. In response to this heartbreaking loss, lawmakers in Texas have introduced a bill named after Jocelyn. FOX 26’s Jonathan Mejia had the opportunity to speak with her grieving family, shedding light on their pain and the impact of this incident.
June 29: Highway 6 near Barker Oaks Drive
The Houston Fire Department recovered a body from a bayou near 1704 South Highway 6 following a report of a possible drowning. The identity of the individual and the circumstances surrounding the incident are currently under investigation.
July 1: Kenneth Cutting’s body found in Buffalo Bayou
Kenneth Cutting last seen in Downtown Houston
Houston police are currently investigating the case of 22-year-old Kenneth Cutting, who went missing after leaving a bar in Downtown. As of now, his body has not been found. FOX 26’s Abigail Dye provides an update on the ongoing search and shares more details about the investigation.
The search for Kenneth Cutting came to an end when his body was found in Buffalo Bayou near 3300 Swiney. Cutting had been at Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar downtown and left shortly before midnight. It is said that he had a disagreement with his two roommates, who were also present that night. The argument escalated as they drove east on I-10, eventually leading to Cutting being dropped off near Waco Street without his phone or wallet.
Around 2 a.m., the roommates of the deceased individual sent a text to his family, informing them about the situation. The family promptly contacted the Houston Police to report the incident. At the time, there were no apparent indications of any physical injuries, and as a result, the cause of death is currently being investigated.
July 10: Hollister Road
In the 14500 block of Hollister, a man’s body was discovered in a retention pond near the Greens Bayou basin.
July 11: White Oak Bayou
A body was found in White Oak Bayou near 1900 Studemont Street by authorities.
August 17: Hockley Street
September 14: Brays Bayou
A fisherman made a grim discovery when he spotted a man’s body floating in Brays Bayou near 6900 Lawndale Street. The authorities are currently investigating the cause of death, which remains unclear at this time.
October 8: Two Bodies Found
