HOUSTON — Neighbors captured video Sunday night of a man’s sixth arrest in as many years. The incident occurred shortly after someone reported him peeping into their window.
“You know, it’s months and months off, he’s in jail, he’s out of jail, but he keeps coming back,” Gavi Lomnitz said.
He and other neighbors mentioned that the man, who we’re not identifying at this time, is a notorious nuisance in their Brays Oaks area subdivision.
They even shared a video of him lurking in a backyard last week. A damaged fence, blown down during Beryl, made the yard more accessible. He seemed to stop outside a set of glass doors later in the video.
“We actually have footage of him for about 45 minutes just staring into a kid’s window,” Lomnitz said. “It’s really, really disturbing.”
Lomnitz isn’t the only one spreading the word.
“I was hoping that he either got the help he needed or moved on,” father of two Daniel Gross said.
Gross said it was the same man he caught looking into his home four years ago. He added that he was previously told the man might have mental issues.
“Then — he needs help,” Gross said. “You know, we shouldn’t have to worry about somebody looking into my kids’ room or my bedroom or things like that.”
According to court records, the man has only ever been charged with criminal trespass, which is usually a class B misdemeanor. We’re told other charges are possible if things escalate. Neighbors said they dread that thought.
“I don’t want to be here speaking with you again in a year from now or two years from now,” Gross said, considering the possibility of something worse happening.
Neighbors thanked a contracted sheriff’s deputy for his swift response Sunday night. They said, if nothing else, others in the area may now be aware to stay on the lookout.
