HCSO reports fatality of young driver in Channelview crash after attempting to engage in racing with another vehicle

A tragic incident unfolded in Channelview, TX, as authorities from the Harris County Sheriff deputies launched an investigation into a fatal single-car crash that claimed the life of a teenager.

The incident took place at 2:30 on Sunday morning at the intersection of N. Silver Green Drive and Dell Dale Street.

According to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez‘s social media post, the 18-year-old driver may have been attempting to race another vehicle when he lost control of his car. This resulted in the car hitting a curb, flipping over, and ultimately coming to a stop in the front yard of a residence.

Juan Carlos Montanez, the teenager, was rushed to the hospital following the incident and unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The authorities state that the teenager’s older sister, who is 20 years old, was also present in the vehicle but fortunately, she did not sustain any injuries.

A carjacking victim in Houston was able to track down their stolen vehicle using a cell phone.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) reported that the teenager’s car did not make contact with the other vehicle he attempted to race, but the other vehicle quickly fled the scene.
