Greg Abbott blamed Kamala Harris for the death of a 12-year-old girl in Texas

In June, two illegal Venezuelan immigrants were suspected of murdering 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has placed the blame for her death on Vice President Kamala Harris.

Abbott issued a statement on Twitter, where he blamed Harris for Nungaray’s death due to her “yearslong border failure.” He asserted that Harris did not respond to his letter, which urged her to visit the border and address the concerns regarding its security.

During his visit to Texas, Abbott criticized Harris for not taking action against illegal immigration and went on to label her as Biden’s “Border Czar,” a position she was never officially appointed to. He urged her to back the Justice for Jocelyn Act during her stay in the state.

Senator Ted Cruz and Congressman Troy E. Nehls recently proposed the Justice for Jocelyn Act. This act aims to enhance the detention and tracking of illegal immigrants in the US. It would empower the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials to deport or initiate immigration proceedings against illegal immigrants.

It has been reported that Nungaray was a victim of sexual assault before her unfortunate demise.

Two individuals, Johan Jose Martinez Rangel, aged 22, and Franklin Jose Pena Ramos, aged 26, were charged with capital murder after their arrest. It has been confirmed by U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement that they were undocumented migrants who had been released by U.S. Border Control.

After learning about the passing of Jocelyn Nungaray, a spokesperson from the White House expressed their condolences, stating, “We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of Jocelyn Nungaray.”

In their statement, they emphasized that they are unable to comment on ongoing law enforcement cases. However, they firmly believe that those who are found guilty of committing such a despicable and appalling crime should be held fully accountable under the law.

Martinez and Pena, who had their bail hearings in June, are currently not scheduled to appear in court until September. Governor Abbott has publicly advocated for the death penalty in this case.

Nungaray’s death has been a subject of blame by Trump on the Biden administration. Prior to the presidential debate on June 27, Trump claims to have spoken to Nungaray’s mother as her funeral was taking place that same day.

During a rally in Atlanta on Tuesday, Harris addressed the claims made by Trump, Abbott, and other Republicans that she is a ‘failed border czar’. She boldly responded by stating, “Donald Trump does not care about border security, he only cares about himself.”
