Fox News Commentator Kelly Powers Dies at 45; Cause of Death Revealed

Fox News Commentator Kelly Powers Dead at 45, Cause of Death Revealed

Kelly Powers, a physician and Fox News commentator, has passed away at 45 after battling cancer.

Diagnosed with brain cancer in 2020 following a series of health challenges, Powers initially went into remission. Unfortunately, the aggressive illness returned in 2024.

Known for her appearances on the Fox News talk show Red Eye and Fox Business, Powers used her platform to discuss health risks affecting Americans. Despite her TV presence, her true passion lay in medicine.

A highly skilled podiatric surgeon, she graduated from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Powers further refined her skills during residencies at Georgetown University and the Boston University School of Medicine, according to her obituary.

“She was a brave and beautiful soul who could make friends anywhere she went. Kelly had a love for people and was dedicated to helping others,” her obituary states.

Her journey as a patient began unexpectedly. While hosting a segment on heart health for Fox News, Powers experienced shortness of breath and chest pain live on air.

“It’s crazy. I went into heart failure while doing a report on Fox Business — live — on heart health and talking about the subtle signs that women often miss. You can’t make this up,” she shared with Preferred Health.

Subsequently, doctors diagnosed her with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

A Resilient Spirit

Through three surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation, Powers fought cancer while navigating pregnancy and welcoming her son, Bennett, into the world. A GoFundMe page highlighted her determination, often reflected in her humor. She referred to herself as “the luckiest unlucky girl,” joking that her treatment left her and baby Bennett with matching hairstyles.

When her cancer returned in 2024, friends and supporters raised nearly $100,000 to fund an experimental treatment not covered by insurance.

Her final Instagram post from August has since become a place of tribute, with fans mourning her loss.

“You were so strong, and I loved always seeing you on Red Eye. You will be missed by so many. Rest in peace, beautiful lady,” wrote one fan. Another added, “Your internal beauty and amazing spirit will be with us all, forever. 🙏❤️”

Powers leaves behind her husband, Steve, and their 3-year-old son, Bennett.
