Forbes names Ohio employer as best place for women to work in the country

Forbes has named a central Ohio institution as the top employer for women in the United States. According to the recent rankings by Forbes, this institution has been recognized for its exceptional gender diversity and inclusivity practices.

Out of 600 companies surveyed in the seventh-annual list, Nationwide Children’s Hospital secured the top spot. The survey, which gathered responses from 150,000 women working for companies with a minimum of 1,000 employees, recognized the hospital’s exceptional workplace culture.

Forbes collaborated with Statista, a research firm, to identify the top employers for women. The survey asked participants about their willingness to recommend their current employer.

The researchers requested the participants to evaluate their present employer’s work atmosphere, pay fairness, the company’s approach towards dealing with cases related to discrimination or sexual misconduct, and parental leave policies. Furthermore, the study also gathered information on the representation of women in leadership and board positions across different organizations.

According to Lorina Wise, the Chief Human Resources Officer, women make up 80% of the hospital’s workforce and hold 65% of management positions.

According to Wise, a group of committed female volunteers established Nationwide Children’s Hospital in 1892. Even after 132 years, the hospital continues to be propelled forward by extraordinary women.

The list of top employers for women includes Nationwide Children’s, which has a workforce of 14,568 employees, followed by Progressive, Lululemon Athletica, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota, Foot Locker, and Boston Medical Center.

The list includes a number of other prominent employers in central Ohio, such as American Electric Power Co. Inc. at 35th position, Ohio State University at 38th position, OhioHealth at 109th position, Cardinal Health Inc. at 118th position, Olentangy Local School District at 185th position, Victoria’s Secret & Co. at 191st position, and Bath & Body Works Inc. at 243rd position.

In 2024, Forbes conducted a study and recognized Nationwide Children’s as one of the top employers for recent graduates in the United States, ranking at number 41 among 400 other employers.
