Last week, authorities in Florida arrested 41-year-old Lammar on first-degree premeditated murder charges in connection with the death of his 42-year-old partner Takeesha. The arrest followed a domestic disturbance at their Florida home.
According to the arrest document, deputies responded to a 911 call about a shooting at 3:45 p.m. When they arrived, they found the victim in the bathroom with a gunshot wound to the head. She was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. Witnesses reported hearing many gunshots and saw two people depart the location immediately following the event.
The investigation discovered that earlier that day, the shooter had picked up one of his kids from school. When he arrived at school, he appeared inebriated and disrespectful. During the trip home, they stopped at a liquor store, where he ingested alcohol, before heading to a storage facility. The daughter told detectives that the shooter took two weapons from the unit and placed them on the vehicle’s center console.
When he returned home, he allegedly placed the firearms in his daughter’s purse and told her to hide them behind the house, citing a suspected police helicopter passing overhead. After the chopper left, he allegedly recovered the handbag and removed a weapon from it. Shortly later, the woman entered the restroom, followed by her husband. Witnesses then heard multiple gunshots.
Family members revealed that the woman had recently filed for divorce, and her husband refused to sign. According to court records, the shooter was out on bond before the shooting after being detained twice on other charges earlier in March. His criminal record includes numerous arrests for drug-related charges and probation violations.
The victim was a mother of four and a grandma. Her family referred to her as the “roots of the family,” highlighting her role in keeping everyone together. She was also an active member of her church, taking part in praise dance and community outreach events.
The 41-year-old defendant is currently being held without bond in the county jail. His initial court appearance is set for later this week. The case has refocused attention on the issue of domestic abuse in the community.
This terrible episode shows the intricacies and hazards of domestic disputes, as well as the crucial importance of raising awareness and intervening in cases of domestic abuse.
