Ex-pastor from Colorado Springs receives punishment for exploiting children

Former Colorado Springs Pastor Sentenced to Prison for Child Exploitation

On Monday, a former Colorado Springs pastor, Jonathan Shaheen, was sentenced to prison months after pleading guilty to the sexual exploitation of a child.

Shaheen was arrested last year after investigators discovered his contact with a couple from New Mexico allegedly exploiting children. The Colorado Springs FBI office notified the city police department, which arrested Shaheen following a search warrant execution in a neighborhood near Austin Bluffs and Stetson Hills. CSPD informed 11 News that officers found sufficient probable cause during the warrant execution to arrest Shaheen, although they did not elaborate on the evidence.

Shaheen, previously a creative arts pastor at TimberCreek Church, was not employed there at the time of his arrest, and the church was not involved in the case. TimberCreek stated to 11 News, “CSPD proactively communicated to us that his arrest has nothing to do with anyone at TimberCreek church.”

Court documents reveal that after initially pleading not guilty to all charges, Shaheen pleaded guilty in February to sexual exploitation of a child-induce. His sentencing, initially set for late May, was rescheduled for Monday afternoon, resulting in a two-year prison sentence.
