In Kokomo, Indiana, a former Indianapolis Colts player was taken into custody following the discovery of his missing teenage son at their residence after a two-week search.
Indiana State Police has confirmed that Bryson Muir, a 14-year-old, has been found “safe and well”. Currently, the Cass County Department of Child Services is taking care of him.
Police arrested 40-year-old Daniel Muir on Wednesday morning on charges of domestic battery and obstruction of justice, according to law enforcement officials.
During his seven-year stint in the NFL, defensive tackle Muir made a name for himself with four seasons at the Colts from 2007 to 2013. Despite going undrafted in 2007 after playing at Kent State, he managed to sign as a free agent with the Green Bay Packers. Muir’s career statistics included 99 tackles and 1.5 sacks, but he remains a notable player in the league.
Police have arrested and charged Kristin Muir, the 38-year-old wife of Muir and mother of the boy, with obstruction of justice.
Last week, Indiana State Police reported that Bryson was spotted leaving a relative’s house in Ohio with his mother on June 16.
According to police reports, they left the relative’s home in a vehicle that belonged to Servant Leader’s Foundation, a religious organization that also owned the Muir family’s property. However, when law enforcement officials pulled over the car soon after, Bryson was nowhere to be found.
The Cass County Department of Child Services requested a police investigation into accusations of domestic battery against Bryson, just two days later.
According to authorities, they made several attempts to reach out to Bryson’s parents but were unable to get in touch with them initially. Eventually, his parents agreed to bring him in to meet with the police. However, they changed their minds and backed out of the arrangement, which indicated a lack of cooperation on their part.
Police announced on Wednesday that Bryson had been located. A photograph released by law enforcement depicted the 14-year-old with a visible black eye.
The police are currently conducting an investigation and they have requested the public to come forward with any information related to the incident by calling 800-382-0689.
