Ex-FBI Agent and Alabama Cop Sentenced to Life for Child Sex Abuse Case

A former FBI agent and Alabama state trooper convicted of child sexual assault received a life sentence on Friday.

Christopher Bauer, 45, was sentenced in Alabama Circuit Court following his conviction in June for first-degree sodomy and sexual abuse of a child under 12 years old.

“It is always extremely disappointing when someone who is supposed to enforce and uphold the law commits a crime against the people they have sworn to protect,” Montgomery District Attorney Daryl Bailey stated in a news release. “He is a bad apple – a depraved monster who abused his power to irreparably harm a vulnerable, innocent child.”

An Associated Press investigation revealed that Bauer used a forged letter in his application to join the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency to conceal his dismissal from the FBI after multiple sexual assault allegations were made against him while he was at the FBI’s New Orleans field office.

The Bureau declined to comment on the sentencing, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency did not respond to requests for comment.
