Online records indicate that Teshon Gardner is facing two preliminary charges of rape.
News 8 obtained court documents revealing that officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a rape at a residence on South Worth Avenue at 12:45 p.m.
After the incident, the mother reported to the police that she and her 12-year-old daughter were sexually assaulted at gunpoint in their own home.
Upon arriving at her residence, the woman was met with the alarming sound of a knock at her front door. Without suspecting anything, she proceeded to open the door only to be confronted by Garder, who had a handgun pointed at her while standing at the entrance.
As Gardner walked down the hallway, the woman cautioned him that her children were sleeping. According to the documents, Gardner instructed the woman to retrieve one of her children and return to the living room.
According to the police report, the woman reported that Gardner had visited her residence around 11:30 am and departed an hour later. In the report, the woman provided a comprehensive description of the suspect, who was later identified as Gardner. The description included a tattoo of the letter “M” on the left side of his torso, along with some unknown writing beneath it.
A neighbor provided detectives with surveillance footage that revealed a blue Ford F150 traveling south on Worth Avenue at 12:31 p.m. Police were able to locate the Ford at West 28th Street with the assistance of nearby cameras.
During a routine traffic stop, law enforcement officials apprehended Gardner.
During the interview with detectives, Gardner claimed that he had been the sole driver of the Ford and had spent the majority of the day behind the wheel. Additionally, he vehemently denied engaging in any sexual activity or committing any sexual assault. Gardner was also asked about his tattoo, and he cooperatively displayed the left side of his torso where the letter “M” and the word “Motown” were tattooed.
It was puzzling for Gardner to comprehend how the victims in the case were aware of his tattoo.
After being taken into custody, Gardner was brought to Ezkenazi Hospital where he underwent an examination by a sexual assault nurse. Following this, he was then transferred to jail.
Gardner has a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday at 9 a.m.
IMPD declined News 8’s request for Gardner’s booking photo on Monday afternoon, stating that it would not be available to the media at this time.
