Police are still searching for a motive following a shooting in the quiet town of Richmond, Texas.
In 2021, 39-year-old Mohammad Khodr was shot and killed at his home in Richmond. The attack happened while his wife and children were present.
According to his mother-in-law, Sana Zuri, three individuals arrived at the house, with two of them getting out to approach the door. Someone inside let them in.
She recounted: “They shot him three times in the kitchen. He tried to grab his gun, but he couldn’t reach it.”
The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office has labeled the incident as a home invasion, but the motive remains unclear.
Neighbor Vasant Deo notes that the home still feels like a crime scene, as it has not been cleaned since the shooting. The neighborhood has rallied around Mohammad’s wife during this difficult time.
Deo shared with Fox26: “We went to her house, and she asked for her car keys and for the garage door to be opened. I wasn’t sure what to do, but as a neighbor, I had to help her.”
Mohammad’s family and friends continue to mourn his loss.
Zuri expressed, “Anyone who needed help—neighbors, friends, me, the girls—he was always there. And now, we miss him.”
