Chaos detailed in court documents regarding Indianapolis mass stabbing incident

Last week, a disturbance outside a business in northwest Indianapolis led to multiple people being stabbed, and the man responsible now faces several charges.

Estinfil Filsmagre, 27, is facing serious charges after prosecutors filed two counts of attempted murder, one count of aggravated battery, and three counts of battery using a deadly weapon against him.

On June 17, Indianapolis Metropolitan police took him into custody after they were dispatched to 7102 Woodland Dr. at approximately 3:40 a.m. The address is associated with a strip mall and a bar/restaurant referred to as Miami’s Garden.

The incident left nine individuals injured, with stab wounds or other forms of physical trauma.

IMPD detectives received accounts from several witnesses, but it was challenging to determine the exact trigger that led to the outburst of violence.

According to court documents, a surveillance video captured a heated argument between three men that escalated into physical altercation when one of them threw a punch. In the midst of the commotion, Filsmagre unfolded what appeared to be a knife and approached the fight.

As a car approached, one man rushed towards it while Filsmagre quickly intervened. In the scuffle, the man caught Filsmagre’s arm in the car door, but he managed to break free. Reacting instinctively, Filsmagre swung his arm around and unintentionally stabbed a person who had approached him during the chaos.

According to the guard’s account to the police, she initially thought that Filsmagre had punched her. It was only after someone informed her that she had been injured that she realized she had been stabbed. She then checked her chest and discovered that it was covered in blood. The guard also mentioned to detectives that there were around 50 individuals engaged in fighting outside at one point.

According to the armed guard, Filsmagre reassured him by saying, “Bro, I’m no problem.”

In the video, it can be seen that Filsmagre was struck by another person, causing him to lose consciousness. Subsequently, someone else proceeded to kick him in the face.

The police appeared on the scene just five minutes after.

According to court documents, Filsmagre suffered from “significant lacerations to the side of his face and the front of his throat” and had to be intubated. The police collected his bloodied clothes as evidence.

As of Monday, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office reported that he was still in critical condition.
