Police bust $3 million Jeep and Dodge chop shop ring in California
If your Jeep Trackhawk, Dodge Charger, or Dodge Challenger has been stolen, the police may have recently discovered the remains of your vehicle.
In Fresno, California, police officers uncovered a chop shop participating in a $3 million operation. This particular shop focuses on dealing with Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger, and Jeep SRT parts and has been operating at a high capacity over the last six months.
According to The Drive, the operation was connected to a shop in Fresno and Huntington Park that either sold or possessed $3 million worth of stolen goods. Authorities discovered approximately 75 vehicles along with a vast number of parts.
The Career Criminal Auto Theft Team (CCATT) has been actively investigating the case for the past six months. As a result of their efforts, they have apprehended seven suspects and have filed a total of 110 felony charges. It is important to note that the investigation is still ongoing, and additional arrests may follow in the future.
In their search, they discovered cars scattered in fragments and heaps. Among the vehicles found were Dodge Durango Hellcat models, Chevrolet Camaros, and Infiniti models. However, the majority of the stolen vehicles consisted of Charger, Challenger, and Trackhawk models.
It’s not clear if the ring was connected to a larger organization, but more details may emerge soon. Two suspects are still on the run, and approximately 51.7% of the state’s stolen vehicles originated from southern California.
Some individuals are hopeful that the vehicles and parts that have been recovered will be put up for auction.
