Buffalo woman faces murder charge following Wade Avenue shooting

A woman from Buffalo, New York, was brought to court on Monday morning and charged with second-degree murder. The Erie County District Attorney’s Office revealed that she is accused of shooting a man in October, resulting in his death.

At 6 p.m. on October 30, police responded to a reported shooting on Wade Avenue near Holden Street. They discovered the lifeless body of a 39-year-old man at the scene.

Latrice Purdie, aged 29, allegedly shot and killed a man named Akeem Cortez, according to the police. The attorney’s office has charged her with intentionally causing his death.

Purdie could potentially face a sentence of 25 years to life in prison if she is found guilty of the most severe charge. A felony hearing has been scheduled for November 22, and she is currently being held without bail.
