MIDWEST CITY, OK — A medical examiner’s report has revealed that a 7-year-old girl died after swallowing the top of a baby bottle, which caused a blockage in her small intestines.
In August, Anthony Yonko and Lisa Mitchell were taken into custody after bringing their daughter Violet to the hospital. Violet later passed away.
At the time of her death, Violet weighed just 29 pounds.
Mitchell and Yonko stated that the child had been suffering from the flu, which they claimed led to her weight loss.
Yonko claimed that Violet had weighed 50 pounds just four to five days before her death.
The medical examiner described Violet as “essentially skin on bones” and determined the cause of death to be failure to thrive due to a small intestinal obstruction caused by a foreign object.
The rubber top of a baby bottle was found obstructing her intestines.
The medical examiner stated it is unclear whether the obstruction was accidental or intentional.
After the initial investigation, two other individuals, David Yonko and Tiffany Mitchell, were arrested.
Anthony Yonko, David Yonko, Tiffany Mitchell, and Lisa Mitchell have all been charged with second-degree murder in connection with Violet’s death.
