Authorities report several individuals were shot in a community in northern Illinois

Authorities have reported that an incident involving multiple people being shot occurred on Wednesday in Dixon, Illinois.

According to a post on the Winnebago Boone & Ogle County Fire/Ems Incidents Facebook page, the Lost Lake community near Dixon saw the arrival of ambulances and two medical helicopters, along with a significant police presence.

According to a spokesperson from Katherine Shaw Bethea Hospital in Dixon, three individuals were brought to the hospital’s emergency department. Two of them were treated and released, while there is no information available about the condition of the third person.

When The Associated Press reached out to the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department, the person answering the phone declined to comment. According to the department’s website, a news conference has been scheduled for 3:30 p.m.

Local media captured aerial footage on Wednesday afternoon, revealing law enforcement and personal vehicles parked on unpaved roads throughout the neighborhood. Officials occasionally gathered in small groups, but there was limited ongoing activity. At least one driveway was blocked off with yellow police tape, and an Ogle County sheriff’s mobile command center was stationed at the end of the drive.

Lost Lake’s property owner’s association characterizes the vicinity as a “country-style community” comprising approximately 700 owners in an unincorporated region near the cities of Dixon, Franklin Grove, and Oregon, located about 100 miles (160 kilometers) west of Chicago.
