An arson and homicide investigation has been launched after firefighters discovered a deceased man inside a burned truck during an early morning fire in southwest Houston.
According to an HPD sergeant, Houston police believe that the incident could potentially be a suicide.
A fire broke out at a residence on Wickersham Lane around 4:43 a.m. on Wednesday, according to reports.
A pickup truck parked in the driveway caught fire, which quickly spread to a second vehicle, the house, and the garage, as reported by the Houston Fire Department.
The investigators suspect that the man accidentally pressed the gas pedal, resulting in the truck crashing into a vehicle inside the garage and sparking a fire.
The homeowners assured investigators that they do not know the deceased individual, and the truck doesn’t seem to belong to the local area. Thankfully, no one inside the house suffered any injuries.
The Houston Fire Department,’s Arson Division is working alongside the Houston Police Department to conduct a collaborative investigation. Their goal is to uncover the precise details surrounding both the fire and the tragic loss of life.
