An individual, who remains unnamed, has been indicted for sending text messages using the phone belonging to the Kettering man, whose legs were discovered in Trotwood earlier this year.
Keiter Sr.’s death has led to the formal charging of a third person.
On July 18, Tygan Keiter, who is 23 years old, got arrested for the charges of tampering with evidence. The Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas indicted him on four counts of tampering with evidence.
It was alleged that Tygan sent text messages and made calls using Keiter Sr.’s phone after his death, in an attempt to create the illusion that he was still alive.
According to a statement of facts obtained by News Center 7, Tygan confessed during a detective’s interview on July 15 that he had discussed with Keiter Jr. the idea of persuading Keiter Sr. to include Tygan in his will.
According to reports, Keiter Jr. threatened to kill Keiter Sr. if Tygan wasn’t included in the will.
In his admission, Tygan confessed to using Sr.’s phone to send text messages and make calls. Additionally, he acknowledged deleting messages from his own phone that were sent on April 12.
Tygan remains in custody at the Montgomery County Jail with no bond granted. His upcoming court appearance is set for Tuesday, July 30.
