On Monday evening, authorities received reports of gunshots inside the mall around 5:21 p.m. Upon reaching the scene, law enforcement promptly secured the area and verified that no one had been injured. However, the individuals responsible for the incident had already fled in a vehicle.
In a recent incident at Katy Mills Mall, there was a shooting, fortunately, no one was injured. The suspects involved in the incident managed to escape from the scene.
Katy detectives conducted a swift and comprehensive investigation, which included a thorough review of surveillance footage from the mall. As a result, they were able to identify the shooter.
During the search, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence. As a result, both Aaron Noah Chavez, an adult male, and a juvenile male were arrested. Additionally, authorities were able to recover the firearm believed to have been used in the incident.
Both Chavez and the juvenile suspect confessed to their participation in the shooting, indicating that it was a result of an ongoing feud between two groups.
Chavez and the juvenile are facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. At present, Chavez is being held at Fort Bend County Jail, while the juvenile is detained at Fort Bend County Juvenile Detention.
