Did you know that one out of every four Arkansans has unclaimed property? Fortunately, the Great Arkansas Treasure Hunt program is working to reunite these unclaimed funds with their rightful owners, returning millions of dollars in the process.
Unclaimed property is a broad term that encompasses a variety of assets that have not been claimed by their rightful owners. The Auditor of State’s website states that these assets may include savings and checking accounts, unpaid wages or commissions, stocks, bonds, utility deposits, insurance proceeds, cashier’s checks, money orders, and contents of safe deposit boxes. It is important to note that this list is not comprehensive and there may be other types of unclaimed property that are not included.
According to Treasurer of Arkansas, Milligan, he is urging the people of Arkansas to assist in the recovery of the massive sum of four hundred million dollars. He encourages everyone to visit the website Claimitar.gov if they have any concerns, and promises that his office is always available to help. “Please help me get this money back to you,” he emphasizes, highlighting the importance of this issue.
According to Milligan, currently, there is an outstanding amount of over $400 million that needs to be returned to the rightful owners. He further adds that his office is more than willing to assist in the process. On average, the refund amount is around $125, as stated by Milligan.
