At around 7 p.m., a gunfight broke out at the intersection of Brooklyn and Foster avenues. Unfortunately, during the exchange of gunfire, Lawson was hit twice by stray bullets while she was sitting in her walker, causing injuries to her arm. The incident was reported by the police.

As she was concluding her visit with some friends, Lawson mentioned.

As she was heading back to her house, a loud explosion caught her attention. “I heard this big explosion go off, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop,” she recounted.

A kind-hearted individual, accompanied by a companion, hurried to assist Lawson.

“He removed his shirt and handed it over to me, instructing me to apply pressure to her arm to stop the bleeding. Throughout the ordeal, we managed to keep her calm, and surprisingly, she remained composed throughout the entire ordeal,” he recalled.

After dialing 911 for emergency assistance, Lawson was quickly attended to by first responders who promptly transported her to Kings County Hospital in stable condition. Currently, she experiences pain in her left hand whenever she moves it.

Lawson complained about the discomfort in his arm.

While chatting with her friends outside, Enid Lawson, who is 88 years old, received a panicked phone call. She had initially identified the victim as her sister.

Enid Lawson received a call from someone who informed her about a shooting incident. She felt nervous and wondered where the person had been shot.

“Thank God for his mercy, I’m still here among this living”

These Jamaican-born sisters reside in the same apartment building and share a close bond.

According to Carine Scott, the daughter of the victim, her mother has always been active in mentoring the youth in their neighborhood.

According to Scott, if someone displayed immoral behavior, the woman he knew would pause and advise them, “Young man, don’t do that. That’s not right.” He believes that there are too many firearms in circulation.

After enduring a harrowing experience, Althea Lawson expressed her immense relief at having made it through.

“I am grateful to God for his mercy, as I am still here among the living,” she expressed.

According to police sources, two shooters, who are believed to be associated with rival gangs, fired a total of 14 shots. However, no arrests have been made at this time.
