Tragically, a young man from Ohio, aged 18, passed away on Wednesday due to an apparent drowning incident in North Carolina.
According to a spokesperson for the city, at 2:51 p.m., fire and rescue teams were summoned to the Gull Street public beach access in North Carolina following reports of three swimmers in distress.
Upon returning to shore, two swimmers were assisted by a lifeguard. One of the swimmers received medical attention and both were transported to the hospital for further treatment.
Using drone technology, a police officer from Nags Head successfully located the third swimmer.
According to the spokesperson, the medics were able to transport him to the hospital and although they were initially successful, he later passed away.
The identity of the man has not been disclosed as of yet.
