According to the Northern Alabama District Attorney’s Office, a resident of the state has been sentenced for his role in a plan to steal agricultural chemicals from his previous employer.
U.S. District Court Judge Liles C. Burke sentenced 56-year-old Christopher Michelfelder of Alabama to 63 months in prison. Michelfelder first pleaded guilty to mail fraud in December 2024.
Michelfelder was the facility manager for a local unit of an international agriculture corporation. He orchestrated a decade-long plan to steal agricultural produce from his employer. He subsequently sold them to a third-party broker, stating the items were for his personal agricultural business, Midway Farms. Michelfelder shipped the stolen goods to an address specified by the broker via FedEx. The plan resulted in a total loss of approximately $6 million.
