A man has been taken into custody on charges of rape following a report of sexual abuse that allegedly took place in several counties in central Ohio.
A 12-year-old girl is believed to have been the victim of multiple sexual assaults that reportedly occurred in both Franklin and Madison Counties. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received a referral of sexual abuse on December 17.
One week later, a forensic interview was conducted at the Child Assessment Center, during which the victim told deputies that 43-year-old Scottie O’Brien had multiple oral and vaginal sex with her. The victim also claimed that O’Brien provided her with medications, including Percocet and cocaine, before and during the sexual attacks.
According to the sheriff’s office, the reported assaults commenced in September 2024 within the Pleasant Township region of western Franklin County.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating further allegations of sexual assault against O’Brien within its jurisdiction. However, the specific details, including the location and time of these incidents, remain unknown at this time.
O’Brien faced arrest last Thursday, and just a few days later, a Franklin County Municipal Court judge imposed a hefty $1 million bond on him for the charges of rape involving a victim under the age of 13. O’Brien’s next court appearance is set for January 17th, where a preliminary hearing will take place.
