Breaking News: A serious crash kills Jefferson City woman at hospital

COLUMBIA, Mo. – A woman from Jefferson City has tragically passed away following a crash on Saturday in Boone County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s crash report reveals the 18-year-old driver succumbed to her injuries on Sunday at 12:09 p.m. at University Hospital.

Her family identified her as Cally Coatney in a post on GoFundMe.

“Unfortunately, as of 12:09 pm December 1, 2024, our loved one Cally has passed,” the organizer shared on the site.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the young woman was driving a 2004 Ford F150 northbound on Highway 63 near Aufranc Road when she lost control, driving too fast for the snowy and icy conditions. She veered off the road, striking a road sign and a culvert before the truck flipped, ejecting her.

She was transported to University Hospital by ambulance. The report noted that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

At the time, the road was covered with snow and ice, with snow still falling. More than 3 inches were recorded in Columbia before the snow stopped later that Saturday.

The GoFundMe fundraiser aimed for $10,000, but by Tuesday morning, it had raised over $17,000.
