A Missouri man won $1 million on his first scratch-off lottery ticket. It was just the start

Last month, the new $5,000,000 Fortune scratcher game by Missouri Lottery had not been won by a man from Missouri yet. In an attempt to win big, he purchased two tickets for $50 each.

As he began scratching away at one of the lottery tickets, he believed that he had hit the jackpot with a prize of $1 million. But his excitement didn’t stop there as he continued to scratch eagerly.

The man won the grand prize of $5 million with the ticket he purchased at Sunny’s Liquor & Tobacco located at 3921 N.W. Barry Road in Kansas City.

The lucky winner exclaimed, “As soon as I scratched off the coin stack symbol, I couldn’t believe my eyes – I thought I had hit the jackpot of $1 million!” However, the excitement didn’t stop there as the winner continued to scratch and revealed yet another coin, instantly realizing that the prize was actually a whopping $5 million. The winner confidently stated, “I am very familiar with the game and I knew exactly what I had won.”

The Missouri Lottery has announced the creation of their 24th millionaire in 2024, during the 24th week of the year.

Lester Elder, the executive director of the Missouri Lottery, expressed his amazement in a statement, saying, “This is truly remarkable. It’s hard to believe that we’ve been able to create a new millionaire every week this year.”

Since its inception, the Missouri Lottery has awarded its players over $20 billion in prizes, while contributing a staggering $8 billion to the state and public education.

Since its launch on May 28th, the $5,000,000 Fortune game has already accumulated an impressive $241 million in unclaimed prizes. Among these prizes are two top prizes worth $5 million each, three prizes worth $1 million, and 36 prizes worth $50,000.
