A routine traffic stop in Bedford Township resulted in the arrest of a Honduran national wanted for a 2020 homicide in Indiana, authorities said.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Justin Jackson stopped a driver near Summerfield Road and Dorr Street around 1:58 a.m. on Thursday. The motorist provided false identification, necessitating additional investigation. Deputy Jackson used law enforcement databases to validate the driver’s name and uncovered an open homicide warrant from Marion County, Indiana.
Agents from the US Border Patrol’s Gibraltar Station responded to assist. A Border Patrol agent positively identified the driver as the wanted homicide suspect. The male suspect, 43, was apprehended without incident and later brought to Border Patrol custody.
