A man from Massachusetts who was on vacation with his family in South Carolina has been missing since Friday and authorities are saying that he is in danger.
According to his family, Stanley Kotowski, 60, was last seen on Friday morning leaving his family’s vacation rental on Hilton Head Island. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office has reported that he is believed to be barefoot and did not take any personal items, such as his phone or wallet.
According to Kotowski’s family, he has been experiencing anxiety recently, as reported by WJCL, an ABC affiliate in Savannah, Georgia.
According to his wife, Jackie Kotowski, he experienced severe insomnia for approximately a month. She mentioned that this was a new and unfamiliar experience for him. It is important to note that he does not have dementia. However, his anxiety progressively worsened, leading to feelings of paranoia and the belief that he was being pursued by someone.
According to Zak Kotowski, his father remains in good health, as reported by WJCL.
According to Zak Kotowski, he describes the person as someone who possesses great strength and athleticism. He even mentions that this individual is capable of traveling to nearby towns, even when in a delirious state and without wearing any shoes.
According to Master Sergeant Daniel Allen of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office, Kotowski’s family reported him missing approximately two hours after his last sighting. Due to his mental state, the duration of his disappearance, and the fact that he was seen on a Ring camera without shoes, he has been classified as endangered.
The search for Kotowski continued on Tuesday, carried out by the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
Search teams have utilized various resources in their efforts, including K9s, helicopters, drones, boats, and foot patrol, as stated by the sheriff’s office. Although there have been a few tips, none of them have yielded any significant results, according to Allen.
“Regrettably, despite their tireless efforts across air, land, and water, we have yet to establish contact with him,” Allen informed ABC News on Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office stated that they have entered Kotowski’s information into national databases and distributed it to agencies across the state.
His family is adamant about not leaving Hilton Head Island without him and is making a heartfelt plea for assistance.
“We simply want him to return home,” expressed Jackie Kotowski to WJCL. “We are reaching out to anyone who can offer assistance in locating him.”
Zak Kotowski had a heartfelt message for his father, expressing, “We love you and we simply want you to come home.”
Kotowski, who has a thick Boston accent, was last spotted on a Ring camera wearing a gray Coors Light T-shirt, dark-colored shorts, and no shoes. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office shared the surveillance footage, which showed him to be around 6 feet tall, weighing approximately 200 pounds. He has short brown hair and brown eyes.
The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to carefully examine their surveillance cameras and thoroughly inspect their property in search of any indications of Kotowski. If anyone has any information, they are encouraged to contact the sheriff’s office at 843-524-2777.
