The San Marcos Police Department took to Facebook post on Saturday to announce that they were investigating two incidents involving flyers found on political signs in various locations across the city.
The flyers contained a message that read: “You have been identified and are now included in our National Database of miscreant Kamala Harris supporters. This identification was based on your social interactions with your neighbors who are part of our investigations team, as well as your yard signs or vehicle bumper stickers.”
According to a report by KXAN, the number of incidents has increased to five since then.
“We are currently working on determining the extent of flyer distribution in San Marcos,” said Chief Stan Standridge of the San Marcos Police Department in an interview with KXAN. “We have already informed the FBI, as well as the Southwest Texas Fusion Center and the Austin Regional Intelligence Center.”
According to him, it is considered a criminal offense to manipulate, pressure, or obstruct a voter from exercising their right to vote.
