A fight erupted at the party, leading to the unfortunate firing of shots, according to the police. Tragically, a 19-year-old man lost his life at the scene.
According to the Houston Police Department, a man was fatally shot during a Halloween party in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The incident took place at approximately 1:30 a.m. at a party venue situated on Bissonnet Street, close to S. Kirkwood Road.
According to the police, an altercation occurred at the party, resulting in gunshots being discharged. It remains unclear whether the gunshots were fired within the premises or outside.
A 19-year-old man was declared dead at the scene, while another man sustained gunshot wounds but is expected to survive.
Investigators were actively seeking to speak with witnesses and collect surveillance video in the area. Additionally, according to KHOU 11 News, the police confirmed that they had questioned the staff at the event venue.
Ahmed Suhail, the owner of a herb shop located across the parking lot from where the shooting occurred, expressed his profound devastation upon learning about the loss of life, particularly of someone so young. He further mentioned his surprise at the unfortunate incident.
“People get scared when they witness shootings in this area. They wonder what is happening here,” Suhail expressed concern. “It also negatively impacts the center. If such incidents occur, it becomes difficult to attract people here.”
The Houston Police Department has stated that the shooting is being treated as an isolated incident. As of Sunday night, the police had not disclosed any information about a potential suspect or suspects.
