During the hearing, held in Houston, CBS affiliate KHOU reported that it remained unclear who Cristian Gasca Martinez directed the kisses towards. The judge decided to raise Martinez’s bond from $200,000 to $2 million. It is worth noting that both the victim and the defendant’s family members were present at the hearing. Martinez stands accused of the murder of Osvaldo Casas, a 37-year-old individual, which occurred in August.
Judith Molina, the wife of Casas, expressed her gratitude in a GoFundMe campaign for the increased bond. She also extended her thanks to the individuals who generously contributed to cover her husband’s funeral expenses. Part of the funds were also allocated to support their newborn baby boy, who arrived just three days after Casas’ burial. Molina mentioned the possibility of relocating her family to a different neighborhood due to the harassment her daughter is facing from Gasca Martinez’s acquaintances.
In a previous report by Law&Crime, it was mentioned that Gasca Martinez has been arrested by detectives from the Houston Police Department on charges of murder. It is alleged that Gasca Martinez shot Casas in the early hours of August 10th in southeast Houston. Upon arriving at the scene, the police found Casas with multiple gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, paramedics declared him deceased at the scene.
According to police, Casas encountered an individual he deemed suspicious on his street, leading to the shooting incident. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Gasca Martinez had been pursuing a romantic relationship with Casas’ 16-year-old stepdaughter. However, the girl had clearly expressed her disinterest, prompting Gasca Martinez to allegedly resort to stalking. Despite the girl’s requests to stop contacting her, he persistently called her, forcing her to block his number. (Source: KHOU)
According to Molina’s GoFundMe page, her husband passed away “while courageously safeguarding our family.”
“Osvaldo couldn’t contain his excitement when he imagined the prospect of meeting his newborn baby boy and stepping into the role of a loving father,” she expressed.
According to her, her husband was a man who possessed an immense amount of love and kindness.
“He had a strong presence in our community and was always ready to offer assistance,” Molina expressed, and also mentioned his deep passion for the Dallas Cowboys.
Gasca Martinez was arrested on Thursday and is currently being held at the Harris County Jail.
Molina expressed her satisfaction with the arrest of the suspect, as she revealed to KHOU.
“I understand that the arrest won’t bring him back, but it brings me some satisfaction to know that he has been apprehended,” she expressed.
