TUPELO, Miss. – All 46 of Mississippi’s Democratic National Convention delegates have thrown their support behind Vice President Kamala Harris for president.
DNC Delegate Jamie Franks shared with WTVA 9 News that the unanimous endorsement occurred during a meeting on Monday.
The Associated Press reports that Harris requires the backing of 1,976 delegates on the first ballot to secure the Democratic nomination for president.
In addition, Alabama’s delegates have also unanimously backed Harris, as stated by Congresswoman Terri Sewell.
The Democratic National Convention is set to start on August 19.
