The family members of a murdered teenager are taking to the streets in search of answers. They are desperate to find any information that can help solve the case and bring justice for their loved one.
Marvel White’s murder investigation has led the authorities to knock on doors and distribute flyers on cars, streetlights, and poles, seeking any leads that could help them solve this heinous crime.
“The loss of my son is unbearable, and I demand justice for him,” expressed Marcella White, the mother of the victim.
Last month, tragedy struck when a teenager was killed at Ogden Park in Englewood. He was supposed to start his junior year of high school in the upcoming fall.
According to Marvel’s mother, he was enjoying his time with friends at the pool on June 22, when he became involved in a dispute with someone who ultimately shot him in the chest and legs, as reported by ABC7.
My heart aches for justice to be served for my son who was taken from us for no apparent reason.
Marcella expressed her disbelief and shock when she stated that she never imagined something like this would happen to her son at the park they frequently visit. She emphasized that they have been residing in the area for several years.
Family and friends revisited the park on Friday, where the teenager frequently held basketball tournaments and family picnics, to convey a message to the community.
Marcella urged everyone to step up and join the crowd at the bustling park, where people of all ages were gathered. The park was teeming with life, and it was a sight to behold with adults and children alike enjoying themselves.
The Restorative Project teamed up with the victim’s family to survey the surrounding area.
Bilaal Evans, the Executive Director of the Restorative Project, emphasized the importance of taking action to address the issue at hand. “If not us, then who?” he asked. He believes that it’s necessary for families, men, and mothers to come out of their homes and become leaders, providers, and guiders for the youth in their community. Without this kind of involvement, the problem will persist.
The organization Purpose Over Pain is offering a reward of $5,000 to anyone who can provide information that would aid in the arrest of the perpetrator. The members of the group, who have endured the loss of their own children to gun violence, are now taking action to prevent further tragedies and seek justice for their loved ones.
Pam Bosley from Purpose Over Pain emphasized the need to address the ongoing issue of gun violence that persists every day. “We must find a solution to hold accountable those who are responsible for shooting innocent people on the streets,” she stated.
The murder of White remains unsolved as Chicago police have yet to apprehend any suspects. The investigation is ongoing and detectives are working diligently to gather more information.
Evans emphasized the impact of losing a child on the entire community, stating, “It affects everyone.”
If you have any information regarding the matter at hand, please do not hesitate to contact the police. Additionally, if you prefer to submit a tip without revealing your identity, you may do so anonymously.
