On Tuesday night, No. 1 overall pick Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever faced off against the Las Vegas Aces for their second matchup of the season.
Earlier this year, the Aces, back-to-back WNBA champs, defeated the Fever decisively with a final score of 99-80. Tonight’s game is closer, but fans are still voicing a common complaint.
Fans feel that Caitlin Clark, who has taken 12 shots tonight (seven by halftime), needs to be more aggressive in shooting. They criticize her for being too passive on the court.
“They seriously need to tell Caitlin Clark not to hesitate, especially when her teammates keep missing layups. Honestly, I’m baffled how this team has managed to win 8 games!!!” one fan expressed.
“Why is Caitlin Clark being so passive? Just shoot the ball!” another fan exclaimed.
“It’s surprising how Caitlin Clark, known as the greatest college scorer ever, doesn’t actively seek out shots or create scoring opportunities. She went 1-7 in the first half partly because she seemed unsure about shooting. Yes, she has 6 assists and 6 rebounds, BUT WE NEED HER TO SCORE,” commented Fox Sports host Skip Bayless.
This isn’t the first time such concerns have been raised about Clark. Over the weekend, Fever head coach Christie Sides echoed similar sentiments.
“Caitlin Clark needs to take at least 15 shots per game for us,” Sides emphasized. “She has to get her shots, and we need to improve our setup, setting better screens to get her open.”
Clark currently has 13 points, eight assists, and six rebounds in tonight’s game.
