Authorities are currently investigating a potential connection between a disappeared individual and an escaped prisoner from Tennessee. The missing man and the inmate appear to be linked, and investigators are working to uncover any further details. The case is ongoing, and updates will be provided as they become available.
Victor Birchfield, a 61-year-old man, has been missing in Tennessee for nearly two weeks. Although his car and valuables have been sighted in South Carolina, his family’s only concern is locating him.
Tiffany Cole, Birchfield’s daughter, expressed her desire to bring her father home.
Cole is desperately seeking assistance in locating her father.
Cole described Birchfield as a sharp individual with a keen mind. At 61 years of age, he boasts gray hair and striking hazel eyes. He stands at a height of 5’6″ and weighs 170 pounds.
According to Cole, “We possess video evidence of his departure from the airport at 6:53 a.m. on Thursday the 20th.”
According to Cole, her father resigned from his position at the Elizabethton Airport and was spotted entering his vehicle unaccompanied.
Her father was last spotted donning an orange or red shirt paired with gray basketball shorts.
She began to panic on Friday morning when she didn’t hear from him.
Cole stated that on Friday night, the location of the car was pinged by the sheriff’s department in Boone, North Carolina and in Clemson.
Over the weekend, Cole shared that her father’s card had two charges confirmed by the bank: one in Asheville and another at the Tiger Mart in Clemson.
At the time, Cole mentioned that they were not aware of Billy Fletcher, the escaped inmate from their area.
In her opinion, Fletcher is in possession of her father and his belongings.
According to Cole, her father and family are not acquainted with Fletcher. Fletcher, who allegedly walked off a work detail at the Carter County Detention Center on June 20, coincidentally the same day Cole’s father was last seen, has no connection with her father or family.
Cole expressed his outrage at the fact that Billy Fletcher was allowed to participate in a work detail, considering his violent criminal history, which included charges of kidnapping, burglary, armed burglary, and assault. “This man should never have been given the opportunity to be outside in the first place,” Cole exclaimed. He further added that the situation was sickening and made him feel angry.
When Cole stumbled upon the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division’s report about Billy Fletcher being spotted at a Hot Spot in Greenville, donning her father’s belongings, she was taken aback.
Cole admitted that he already had a feeling about the truth, but he was still in denial until he came across a video in the gas station. In the video, he saw that the shoulder strap of the bag was broken, which his father tied together, and his father’s sunglasses were worn by someone else. Cole was heartbroken after seeing the video.
Cole holds on to hope that she will see her dad again with each passing day.
Cole expressed his desire for his father to continue living life to the fullest, enjoying activities like skydiving and four-wheeling for another 40 years and being present as a grandfather. He expressed his hope that the loss of his father did not take away the joy and presence he brought to their lives.
Cole is reaching out to the community for assistance. She kindly requests that if anyone witnessed anything unusual or suspicious, they contact their local law enforcement agency.
Currently, Birchfield and Fletcher remain at large and have not yet been apprehended. Law enforcement officials are urging the public not to approach Fletcher if he is spotted.
SLED has reported that Greenville County’s White Horse Road area is the most recent known location of Fletcher.
According to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office, they have found Birchfield’s car in South Carolina.
