BRYAN, Texas – Chris has been named as the third storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season after hurricane hunter aircraft detected tropical storm-strength winds, just before it makes landfall in Central Mexico.
Chris is expected to gradually weaken overnight, bringing heavy rainfall to parts of Mexico. However, high pressure and westward steering winds over the southern US will likely keep most, if not all, of Chris’s moisture away from Texas.
Meanwhile, Beryl remains the season’s primary concern. The historic storm is projected to affect the southern Windward Islands early this week, continuing on a westward path across the Caribbean Sea thereafter.
