A man from Georgia has been sentenced to twenty years in federal prison after admitting to his involvement in a malicious campaign against a woman. This campaign included detonating an explosive device at her home, while she and her child were present. Thankfully, they were able to escape the incident unharmed. The defendant’s accomplice, Caleb, has been arrested in Louisiana on separate charges and is awaiting prosecution in Georgia.
In January 2023, authorities launched an investigation following an explosive incident at a residence in Georgia. Emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, where they discovered substantial property damage. Fortunately, the occupants, a woman and her child, remained unharmed. The perpetrator responsible for the attack was promptly identified. Although he had initially met the victim through a dating app, their relationship did not progress further. Motivated by personal grievances, he orchestrated a series of increasingly severe attacks with the intention of instilling fear in his victim.
In December 2022, the defendant, 38-year-old S. Giosser, initiated surveillance on the victim, utilizing online searches and electronic communications to find her home based on an image she had previously shared with him. He methodically planned several ways to harass and threaten her. He threw arrows through her front door, shipped dog feces and dead rats to her house, and released a big python into her home with the intention of eating her child. Eventually, he built and detonated an explosive device at her home.
To carry out the bombing, the defendant worked with an accomplice who acquired explosive ingredients online. They worked together to assemble the device at the defendant’s home. Following the explosion, the defendant hired a cleaning service to remove any evidence of bomb-making materials from his home, intending to conceal his involvement.
Law enforcement agencies, such as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and local authorities, collaborated closely to carry out a comprehensive investigation that resulted in the successful arrest and prosecution of the defendant. As part of the legal consequences, he has been sentenced to prison. Furthermore, he has been directed to provide more than $500,000 in restitution to the victims. Upon completion of his sentence, he will also be subjected to three years of supervised release.
Engaging in violent and terroristic acts has severe consequences, and it highlights law enforcement’s dedication to safeguarding individuals from such malicious behavior.
