Police have charged a North Carolina woman with sharing intimate images of a Franklin County woman on social media without her consent.
Genesis Diane Clippinger, 21, of Rutherfordton, North Carolina, has been charged with a misdemeanor count of unlawful publication of an intimate image following an investigation by Pennsylvania State Police.
The victim, a Chambersburg woman, reported Clippinger to authorities on January 6 for sharing an intimate image of her on Snapchat. The victim claimed she phoned Clippinger and begged her to remove the image, but she refused, according to authorities.
According to authorities, the victim’s boyfriend previously had a romantic relationship with Clippinger. Clippinger reportedly knew the password to the boyfriend’s iCloud account and used it to access the account and obtain the victim’s private images, investigators concluded.
On February 20, police filed accusations against Clippinger.
Court records show that a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for April 15 before Magisterial District Judge Kristin D. Nicklas.
