At approximately 11:36 a.m. on December 20, 2024, Officer Parker Dahlberg initiated a traffic stop on a white Dodge Durango for speeding. The vehicle was clocked at 66 mph in a 50 mph zone and displayed a Florida license plate.
Inside the SUV, two men from Texas explained they were traveling to Denver from South Dakota. During the stop, Officer Dahlberg detected the smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
With consent, officers searched the SUV and discovered used syringes consistent with narcotic use. Further investigation uncovered a vial containing about 10 grams of suspected heroin in a small bag. The rear-seat passenger, Shawn Baxter, 39, admitted ownership of the substance.
Baxter was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. Meanwhile, the driver, Dante Lozoya, 26, received citations for speeding and possession of drug paraphernalia before being released.
