Donovan Baucom Jr. is facing charges of first-degree murder, shooting from a motor vehicle, and several other crimes in relation to the shooting incident. These charges were filed against him on Wednesday.
A second individual now faces charges of murder in relation to the tragic killing of Colin Brown, a high school hockey player who was fatally shot while traveling in a vehicle with his father on Interstate 55.
Donovan Baucom Jr., 28, faced charges on Wednesday for first-degree murder, shooting from a motor vehicle, and various other offenses in relation to the shooting incident. Meanwhile, Garrett Jordan, who was apprehended last week, is also confronting several charges, including first-degree murder.
Baucom was apprehended on Tuesday by the St. Louis police, with assistance from the St. Louis County Police Department.
According to the documents, Jordan was apprehended by the police after they were able to track the location data from his phone, which led them to the crime scene. Jordan has subsequently been accused of committing first-degree murder.
Investigators relied on witness testimony, security video, and cell phone location data to establish Jordan’s presence in a dark-colored Audi, which is believed to be linked to the shooting. During their investigation, the police discovered that Baucom’s sister had loaned him the vehicle on the day of the incident, and he returned it later in the day.
According to investigators, it is believed that Jordan and Baucom were tailing a different individual’s vehicle as they headed south on I-55 during the incident. Meanwhile, Brown and his father were traveling in the opposite direction when Brown was tragically shot.
According to the police, Baucom confessed to being the driver of the car during the shooting incident, while Jordan was firing a rifle from inside the vehicle.
St. Louis police spokesman Mitch McCoy stated that during the arrest, detectives confiscated two assault rifles. He mentioned that it is currently being investigated whether these specific firearms were used on the night of November 23, when Colin was hit by a stray bullet.
According to the charging documents, Baucom’s sister informed the police that Jordan was her cousin.
Baucom and Jordan are currently being held without bond.
