Israel unleashed a devastating bomb on Syria, which caused such immense destruction that it was said to register on the Richter scale.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that a video circulating online captured the immense explosion caused by Israel’s bombardment of northwestern Syria, specifically near the city of Tartus.
Israeli warplanes carried out airstrikes, specifically targeting several locations, including air defense units and depots for surface-to-surface missiles. According to the war monitor, these strikes on Sunday were the most intense in Syria’s coastal region since the commencement of the airstrikes in 2012.
The presence of a large amount of stored weapons could be indicated by the size of the blast.
The explosion was of such magnitude that it registered a 3.0 on earthquake sensors, according to reports.
The Israeli military chose not to provide any comment regarding the strikes.
The US embassy in Damascus has issued a warning to Americans, urging them to depart from Syria due to the ongoing security concerns. The embassy highlights the volatile and unpredictable nature of the situation, citing armed conflicts and the presence of terrorism throughout the country.
The embassy, which closed in 2012, recently issued a statement on X (formerly Twitter), cautioning US citizens who are unable to depart the country to make necessary arrangements for emergency situations without providing additional information.
The US government stated that it cannot offer routine or emergency consular services to US citizens. Those in need of emergency assistance to leave the country should reach out to the US Embassy in the destination they intend to enter.
In various regions of Syria, sleeper cells affiliated with the Islamic State group have taken credit for a series of deadly attacks that have occurred in recent months.
Although they were defeated in March 2019, the extremists continue to pose a significant threat in the war-torn country.
